well, i will check next time

bought some used arrows off another popular trad forum and got them in last week. looked good didnt spend much time checking every thing. due to working alot havent had time to shoot any of them so this evening was gonna try a few. grabbed three and my martin recurve and headed outside to try em out. first shot when i released the arrow it sounded like a shot gun went off. arrow flew about 3 ft at 25 fps. thought wth? picked arrow up and saw nock was half missing. guess when i released string the nock gave way and i dry fired my bow. instantly looked at limbs and got sick at my stomach. bottom limb was split below the bow bow nock for about 4 inches and string was inside that split and top limb split about 2 inches. moral of story...always check your equipment so if anyone wants to buy a used recurve with broke in limbs,,,i got one lol

Dang, That's terrible! Glad your O.K.! I sort of ran into something like this with some brand new cedar shafts I got from Lancaster Archery this week, out of those 12 shafts there were8 that I can use, the other 4 were cracked halfway through the shaft!

Sorry to hear that. Its happened to me several times but only once was the bow damaged. Just out of curiosity, what kind of string and what weight bow? Any pics?

Sorry to hear this. I know it's not much consolation, but at least no one got hurt.

That's a bummer. The upside to the story is that this gives you an excuse to get a new bow!!

Ouch, but at least you did't get a carbon injection. That would have made the bow seem trivial.
