When Is A String Too Long?

Im in need of a string bad before the weekend and my stringmaker hasnt delivered. I have one about 4" too long and I remember I think reading in another News Group you CAN twist it enough to make it work..AGREE?

Well, you can twist them to make them a little shorter or longer, but 4 inches seems like a lot to me. Too bad you aren't in H-town, I probably have one that would work somewhere.

What size do you need? I may have an extra.

You can also order one from www.3riversarchery.com and they can overnight it to your for an extra charge. If I remember right.

Your Question was when is a bow string too long. When your brace hight is to short. In my opinion you should have approx. a 7"-8"brace hight. When your brace hight gets to short you will start to hit your arm or the back of your hand behing your thumb.Especially if you are shooting a stout bow.

4" is too long. I would not try to twist one up that far. Most bows take a string that is 4" shorter than the AMO, or lenght of the bow...

4" may be just enough to tie a bowers knot in one end.

If you have to put more than 40 twists in the string to get your desired brace height, your string is too long.
