    CAn a Hoyt be silenced

My neighbor bought a Hoyt Gamemaster recurve. He brought it over this morning and it sounded like a 22 short going off. Is there anyway to silence this bow. All it has on it is a string nock that I put on it -and before he left I tied in a bunch of rubber bands into his string on both sides. Any other suggestions. What about those tape on round knobs made by limbsaver?

The bow is smokin fast and shoots very flat and point on for me but it is not as enjoyable to shoot as my longbow. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I'd definnitely try some string silencers, limb savers, and checking the brace height. It may need to be increased. Also arrows play a part in the noise. If he was shooting lightweight carbons, it will be noisier than a heavier arrow. One of my bows will get a little more noisier with the limb pockets get dry. I usually use a silicone lube and it will quieten it down.

Id bet 90% of it is arrow weight get about 9 to 10 grains per pound of draw weight.

Listen to what has been said above. I would have to agree.

Ditto on what was said above. You might also try going to a dacron string. I have found that shooting dacron strings make a huge difference in the noise of the bow. It will lose a slight bit of speed, but not enough that you'll even notice.

I agree on possibly needing to increase your arrow weight and increasing the brace height.
