Longbow design - short riser vs. standard riser?

I see bowyers (including Bob) offering models of their longbows in a short riser version. I understand that a bow of the same overall length would have longer limbs if the riser is shorter but I'm wondering what the difference is in the way they shoot?

Generally the longer limbs/short riser will draw smoother and the longer risers/shorter limbs will be faster but a bit tougher to draw..

Basically JAVI is correct, but it will also depend to some degree on the shape of the limbs. Having D-flex Re-flex limbs tend to make the shorter ones draw much nicer and also allow it to not have the stack that you find with some short strait limbs.

Bobs new short riser is really smooth and quick. I just picked up a 62" blueridge at 49lb with carbon and bamboo limbs and its faster than the ridgecat recurve I have.
