    Good Advice!!

Visited Sam Stephens this afternoon and bought a 21st Century from him, really honest straight shooting guy, we shot awhile and talked awhile. I have bounced around with trad shooting over the yrs., but never could stick with it, and with some converaation with Sam and a little self searching he said, and Sam I will get it wrong, one of the Wensels talked about getting close enough he cant miss! I finally realized the hunt is under 20 yards 95% of the time, and the reason I kept giving up on trad was thinking how I practice with compounds, longer yardages, and then season comes around and I stick em at 15 yards with all the stuff the bow shop sells on my bow! I can not compare the two bows together, trad is about getting up close and hammering down, its personal with the animals, and I have a much clearer view now! Also Sam showed and proved 250 grains on the front is a good thing, I agree completely now, man do they fly good! Thanks Sam for the help, the bow, and friendliness, you are what trad is about!

Never met Sam. Would like to some day.

      His analogy is spot on.

Was good to see you today it also made me think of how old Im getting when we were talking shooten 3Ds over 20 years ago.The Wensels quote is one of the best I have ever heard ( bowhunting is not how far I can get from an animal and hit it , it is how close I can get and not miss ). Keep going how you are you have great shooting form the shooting you were doing was pretty salty , think you can hang with the best of em if you ask me.We will for sure get on a hunt soon if you want , you live to close not to.You are welcome over anytime at my place for shooten arrows or the breeze..

Would like to see you at some of the shoots again and get to visit. We could go eat with the group at Ft. Worth!

Not unless he brings Tom and a couple empty beer bottles to entertain the rest of the crowd (haha)!

I have never heard that before, but it's so true. Most of my harvest with a bow are inside of 18 yards, even with my wheel bows.

I just saw this thread and copied over some of my earlier post in the classifieds here....

                          Clay,
X2 on what you said regarding Sam!!! I've been visiting with him on and off for some time via PM or phone. He has always been affable and sharing of his knowledge. I'm glad that I finally got a chance to meet him in person. Sam is a good ambassador of our sport/lifestyle!!! He also agreed with me, that you are a heck of a nice guy too!

Sam really does have a whole herd of foam critters in his backyard

                          Sam,
Thanks again for the very fun and educational time!!! Look forward to seeing you next week!!!
                          Kevin
