    DQ @ Vanderpool

After all of the wining was over and the shoot was completed the turnout was great. I shot the course and it was as good has ever and the weather did behave.
I shot the course and had a great time visiting with old freinds and meeting some new and it normally is there were some very challaging shots but as luck would have I was able to make solid contact with all of them with the first arrow.
I have shot this shoot almost every year sence the late 80's, early 90's and have shot the same still. When I started shooting with Tbot it was asked about the rest that I was shooting with and at that time the statement was as long as there was no moving parts (spring loaded, magnet return, fall away) the one peice plastic self adheseve rest by bear and hoyt were OK as long as there was no plunger button.
I will still shoot the same as I have for the last 38 years because that is the same way I set up to hunt. Being traditional is great and I am all for being fair and going by the rules but can not see where my equiptment has changed.
I hope we can rethink the having the shoot off of the sheilf and go back to using an elevated rest as long as it has no moving parts.

Even VELCRO is a bunch of tiny loops (100's) that move when the arrow goes across it. The only non-moving shelf material would be solid leather.

Nice talking with you at the shoot Josh.It was definitely a challenge pulling my(and my whole families)rest off 3 weeks before the shoot and trying to get my arrows to fly right(really never did).Ordered some new ones today.Maybe Ill have some time to get them right now.I did not like this years rest rule change either but someone made an issue of it.I was told they may make a class for elevated type rest. When your at the lease this year come by our camp and visit us!

If you want something different it might work to your advantage for you to show up in person like the others did to represent your feelings on it instead of stirring the pot from afar.

Couldn't afford the trip. Besides the pot is empty on this subject.
I was just playing with Josh anyway. The members don't really have a vote . I don't care what the RULE is, as long as it is clear. I can shoot whatever they say. The problem was that it was unclear. Only after I was told in private what the rule was and posted the statement, it changed. If they say it must be Hickory stick and gut string , that is what I will get, makes no difference.

Yes the members that show up do have a vote, get enough and you can make changes . Why do you keep up this BS?

I thought we squeezed the last juice out of this subject a week ago.

I know there was a bit of a sting to drive as far as Josh did just to shoot only one class and leave. I know how Josh works, travels and seldom gets to see his home or family. I am quite sure that if he never referrenced the previous thread on this subject he knew nothing about the rule change/ clarification. But if it makes ya feel any better I drove nearly three hours, couldn't shoot but it was darn good to see ya Josh.

Note: all my other friends as well.

I missed y'all too. Looks and sounds like i missed a good one Work has been super slow and shooting for a weekend i
Or paying a house payment was a tough choice. I do still have a kid and wife at home and they don't like living in a tent.
My earlier comment was a gig at Josh from a conversation we had a few weeks ago.

I would like to see te rule changed to "the rest can have no moving parts".
As i see it, it may have been unclear but it was a non issue and was probably brought up by someone that got their ***** kicked by someone with a hoyt rest and they wanted the make a big deal out of it. That is just a guess ... :-)

The one that really made it an issue is not only the West Texas ASA representative, but also listed as Cowtown Bowmens tournament director. Hum--- And the beat goes on

Was this a high fence hunt?

Yes it was... The targets were inside a highfence :-)
One of the points i heard in favor of not allowing rests was to support te bowers that supported tbot, if i am not mistaken josh and chris slap a hoyt rest on a sweptwing, at one time or another i had a rest on my bob lee. A hoyt or bear rest can be put on any sarrels, bob lee, foley or great plains bow. I still dont see the gripe, i will however still shoot any tbot shoot i can get to and will continue to support the club because all said and done i dont have a horse in this race.
On my last sweptwing i had the bowyer cut the shelf in a way to make it shoot like a rest, guess i have an unfair advantage too. :-)
