Great looking -- that Wenge is so dark I would have guessed it was Phenolic. Is Wenge a heavy wood? Where does most of it come from? (i.e. does it come from Texas?)

No its an exotic from Africa I believe. The weight is really close to that of Teak.

Somewhat grainey? Hahaha, this is stuff has some serious open grain. Very hard to fill in.

Dang Ruby you have alot of wood. I wish your shop was a little closer. Do you have any Leapardwood, tigerwood or Olivewood?

Leopard wood, yes. Tigerwood = Goncalo Alves, yes. Olivewood??? Wild African, Italian or mission?? Mission olive is on the way.

I knew you were gonna ask something like that. I have no idea where its from, it is very figured and looks similar to black and white ebony. I'll have to swing by your place when I go to San Antonio next month. How far are you from there?

Ok, maybe more like a less busy Bocote with slightly different colors. Here is a pic of a bowl I found on the internet.

I think it may be Brazilian Olivewood, very hard stuff, says 3700 on the chart I have. Anyway, I would love to try to make a bow out of it.

What about Snakewood? I can see I'm gonna have to save up all my pennies before I come out there! Hahaha

Finally got a finish on this one today. I'll take it out for some test shots tomorrow.
