For Todd, Blood Trail and the others out at Cowtown yesterday who were interested in the knapping I was showing basics of as I know them, here is all that's left of that big rock I was pounding on. This rock was full of chalky mud specs and was difficult to work with in the final stages. All it would let me make was this 5" x 1-1/4" spear point. This could also be used to make a knife or dagger. Sometimes I work the rock and sometimes it works me

That's cool. How long does that kind of thing take?

Depending on the size and type point and type of rock, anywhere from 20 minutes to a couple of hours including iced tea break.
