    Arrow finding hound

Well I been working with my wife's worthless hounds trying to teach them to find my arrows when I miss my targets, not that it happens that much(cough, cough, cough). Well anyway, they may be smarter than I thought, took only 2 months to get them to this stage. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get them past this point? I mean even I can find these with out any help.

get some doe in heat scent and put a drop or two on the arrow every few months and they wont have any trouble finding the arrows then.

Thanks, I may actually try that. I've been thinking about smearing bacon on mine to train my dog to find the "occasional" errant shot. His name just happens to be Arrow too.

LOL! Hey, what about the little fella in the background? If the hounds won't learn, maybe he can!

You do that and you will find me sniffin around in your yard...

My deceased best friend Rubydog was the worlds greatest arrow finder. I can't take credit for that since she was a rescue dog and she just naturally took to it. It was always cool to watch her find em..

My lab took to finding them on her own. Sure comes in handy. She gets real excited when i get the bow out

A friend of mine who is a member here had a Blue Lacy named Jake that would come out every time he saw you get your bow out and and soon as you shot, he would run to the target and bite the arrow in half and then step back out of the way for the next one. Practice sessions got expensive quick when he was around. Unfortunately, he lost a battle with a car back in November and is now in Hog Dog Heaven, and will always be missed by his Master.
