    3D Question

Typically what yardage are the bulk of the targets and what is the longest?

I have been to several shoots with the wheel bow and never paid attention to what the trad guys were shooting. Know I wish i had.

Typically average between 17.5 - 20yds, with a few longer and a few shorter. If trad guys setup the coures it is usually better. If wheel guys set it up a lot of times it is on the longer side.

Bisch is correct, but I do know a few sadistic trad guys too. Also there will usually be one big target at 40-60 yards.

ASA has a 25 yd max. Cowtown trad shoots we try to maintain that except for a few large targets. TRAD guys love to see their arrows fly every now and then. This year we will shoot between 3yds and 100yds. We are going to really focus on setting a FUN course so everyone scores well with a couple of challenging shots to seperate the men from the boys

LOL...probably so Bob. However there are also a few more in the DFW area.

Don't get me wrong though. It's fun when they aren't all the same. There's nothing wrong with a little challenge.

Steel plates at 20 yards with a grapefruit sized opening? Maybe not.

I haven't been to any other shoots other than Archers for Christ here in Paris, so I can't say what is normal. I try to help set up our course whenever I can, and since we're ASA, we have half the targets at known distances. We only change these distances up a few times a year because we have to go through the trouble of printing out new range cards. The unknown though... Well, many of them may stretch the 25yd max rule, especially on the little javie targets. It's hunting practice for us regulars though.
