    Bow finish?

I recently purchased one of those partially tillered rough hickory longbow blanks. Figured it would give me a nice little project and good introduction to bowbuilding. Just wondering what type of finish will be appropriate. I have B-L-O and spar varnish on hand; anything else and I'll have to spend more money which I hate doing
This is a plain hickory, non-backed 66" longbow. Hoping the oil is ok since it dries alot faster than the varnish. Thoughts?

Tung oil is what we use.

I have used wood floor sealer and wax. Turned out really nice.

I have gone so cheap as to use.. cooking oil thinned down with mineral spirits and hand rubbed in. Takes about 15 coats but, works great.

Hog lard works real well, too.

Think I'll just give the B.L.O. a try. Heck, it's been good enough for several gun stocks I refinished. A hand rubbed coat of furniture wax on it really produces a nice finish.

First, this rain and cold has to stop though. Also have to make a tillering board. This is gonna be fun!

True Oil by Birchwood, gun stock oil, makes a great sealant. Handrub 3 coats or so.
