    My string snapped

Today i was shooting and all the sudden my bowstring broke, So i went up to gander mountain and bought a new string and i was just wondering is it okay that the arrow nock fits really tight on the serving?

No and you need to run about a 100 shots out of the new string before you sart setting up.

That was not one of Doug's strings, was it?

Well, your nock shouldn't be real tight. You may need to either get your string reserved with a smaller diameter serving or very lightly and carefully sand the trhoat of your nocks.

A decent rule of thumb is to knock your arrow, hold your bow horizontally with the string down and the arrow hanging down from the string. The nock should be tight enough on the serving to hold the arrow on the string without gravity pulling it off.

Conversely, nock the arrow on the string and hold the arrow with the bow hanging down horizontally (be ready to catch your bow when it falls out of the nock). It should not be tight enough to hold the weight of the bow.

what will happen if your nock is to tight? will they be able to reserve it at the bowzone?

Hey Cole, I don't know what would happen if the nock is too tight, but re-serving a string isn't too hard. I learned how to do it by watching YouTube videos. Do a search on reserving bowstrings on YouTube. I'd be happy to show you, but I'm up here in the Dallas area.

Too tight a string on your nocks will cause erratic flight. If the nocks don't release under the bow weight without shaking it then they are far too tight. It makes for a difficult time getting satisfactory flight.
