    Broadhead Sharpness...

I have always tested how shapr my broadheads were by running them over a semi-taught ruberband with a broadhead. they have always cut the rubberband. My friend told me that the only way to tell if a broadhead was sharp was if it shaved hair. Have i been testing the sharpness of my broadheads wrong?

If it cuts rubber bands it'll cut arteries and veins. shaving sharp creates a thin edge with is IMHO not as strong as a "Working edge".

I've been shafting hogs for well over 14-15 yrs. it's never failed me yet. Most go bout 20 - 30 yds and cartwheel.
But then again it's shot placement too.

I've heard that the rubber band test is really close to or simulates arteries/veins, as they tend to roll or move slightly, so if it cuts a rubber band, I would think you are good to go.JMO

To each his own, but the sharper the better I'd say.

The rubber band is a great way to do it

Shaving sharp, scarry sharp or easily cutting rubber bands, it's all good for me.

When we teach Bowhunters Ed here, one of these wooden testers with this many rubber bands is what we use to demonstrate broadhead sharpness.

Never have tested like this, but did it just to prove to myself that my broadheads are sharp. They're sharp. The few hairs that are left on my arms are happy.

I make my tester with a "wall of rubber bands" so each one will be able to move a little. if they get pushed instead of cut then it's back to the stone for a few more passionate strokes.
