id start in the fortys personally, which would be around a 50#@28" bow if you draw a true 25" on your compound, but generally you draw less with the trad bow at least in my experiences. ive owned bows from 30#-60# and my favorite weight is 47-48# and i too shot a 70lb compound. everyones built different and have a different preference as far as details, i just thought id throw up my thoughts and maybe theyll be useful in your decision

    good luck

Went to local bow shop yesterday and shot a 60" PSE Mustang 50# @ 28. Bow was comfortable, yet after about 30 arrows I was getting a little tired. I think I'll get a 40 or 45 pd. bow to start as you guys recommended.

I appreciated all the good help guys. I'm sure I'll be posting up more questions as I progress.

Chunky - I'll look you up when I get a chance as I'd like to take you up on your offer.

Good luck and have fun with it! You'll build the weight quickly - it's a slightly different muscle set than a compound (or rather more strain on different muscles). Those stabilizing muscles don't take much work to build up. Definately have someone work with you on form. You'll want to try to get as much out of your draw as you can, esp at your length. I actually picked up an inch.5 when I switched over, but only after someone worked with me - kinda screwed me up for a bit, but helped in the long run. Consistancy is key. Enjoy

I started with a bow which was too strong for me and I am still trying to overcome the habit of letting go that arrow too early. Bad habits hide inside you and come out to bite at the worst times.
