anyone make their own wax?

i have a chunk of solid beeswax. although it seems to work ok, it doesnt look like im getting good wax penetration on the string w/ just the wax... anyone make their own wax? and if so how and what other stuff do i need?

I melt 3:1 bees wax to Coco butter, pour into paper cup cake cups and peel off after it cools.

I got 20 pounds left over from when I was shooting BPCR, and the stuff is already rendered and was made real good by Uncle Sam for the big guns on the ships. Good and sticky, and it works real good.

Heck, I'll never run out.
