    fraying string around the loop

Hey guys I have a hybrid bow half compound/recurve. I noticed that the string was fraying around the loop of the upper limb. since this is closer to a trad bow than a compound I wondering if you trad guys have ever seen this?

What make bow is it? If it is an Onieda, get a new string if that one is pretty old, they have a tendancy to pull the strings into. Or at least take it to a shop and let them check your string grove for a rough spot. If the fraying is just on the serving they can just reserve it. Folks tend to keep strings on their bows way to long.

The only thing it can be is the string groove is rough or the groove doesn't feather out right on the face of the bow.

This is where 90% of the strings break on there own. due to lack of waxing.

I'd get it replaced as soon as you can. (I wouldn't shoot any more till you do) also buy an extra string for this very reason.
I unstring my bow and wax the loops real well twice a month. ( I make my own with Bees wax and coco butter)
Use a soft wax so you get the wax on the inside of the loop.

After you get the first string broke in and your shooting well change to the other new string and break that one in too. leave the first one as a back up string.

Ya might want to check the nock groove with a hose anklet.
If there is a rough spot the hose will snap. check to see if there is a high spot that rubs where the fray is.

For rough spots in limb tips - I buy a length of pull cord from a lawnmower and criss- cross it in the string groove and pull it back and forth - this polishes and gets rid of any problems.
