Here is last years write up about it.

And of course I will only be taking Traditional Longbows with me

What is really much more about this camp, is that as a Bowhunters Ed Instructor with our Montana FWP, we only get class time. With the camp, we not only get the class time, but they will be shooting 3-D, and have plenty of hands on training with the bow. I am so stoked over this camp, that its not funny.

We also have other activities, like with the canoe's... can't wait till they have the tip the canoe contest and all. Fishing, oh the fun of it. But I am really looking forward to the hands on with the bows.

I'm looking for some kids now that want scholarships.

          I had a blast!

I had an awesome week, and several of the kids took to the Selfbow more than the modern compounds that they were introduced to, but the only trouble was I only had one 45# Selfbow that they could draw and use. Many of them came up to me and begged everyday to shoot the Selfbow, after I demonstrated my shooting with my Longbow. I can't wait for the week of July 5th - 9th.

Look close and you can see the arrow flying

          Getting lined up here.....

I think what I'm going to do is get some http://www.woodbows.com/products.html that are Rough and Ready English Style Longbows, so a right or left handed shooter can use them. I had more shooters wanting to use the traditional longbow more than the compounds.

I'm going to be looking for donated longbows to so I have enough for a shooters line of 4 as this is going to be a yearly event for me. I'm going to be looking for 30-35# and 40-45# for the 10 thru 12 year olds, and then plenty of 45# longbows for the 13 thru 15 year olds. Arm guards, tabs, gloves and arrows. Brodie Swisher gets the modern compounds thru BowTech ie Diamond line, but these kids loved the longbow. They had real encouragement when they saw me hit center bullseye on the dartboard target several times using my longbow.

The boy in the first picture, had never shot a traditional bow or compound before, and he told me that he loved the longbow more than the other bows that were offered to shoot. As a matter of fact, he did poorly using pins and peep sight because of his glasses, and with the longbow did so much better.
