    Your first Trad critter?

What was your first trad kill (let's make that first kill larger than a rabbit)? How old were you? How long had you been shooting trad?

I'm just getting into this traditional game, and starting to think about what I want to chase as my first trad kill. Thinkin Javies would be a good first target, or feral sheep/goats. What were yours?

    Here's mine.

A ram, from Thompson Temples. I'd only been shooting for a couple months.

This is Arvin. My first bow kill was a turkey and a javi on the Kenedy ranch.

My first kill was an alligator and I had been shooting my longbow for about 3 months.

Working on one right now. I'm going to try a turkey, but if that doesn't work I may have to go chase a ram or fallow doe at the ranch.

Don't laugh, but mine was a nice-sized crab in a southern Mississippi bayou in the early 80's when I was about 15 years old. In fact, it's been my only traditional kill. Before the crab, I foolishly tried killing a 12-foot gator in that same bayou after it almost ate my dog, but lucky for me the arrow bounced off its back - an arrow tied with some regular fishing line no less - yeah, dumb and foolish, but somehow I survived those days.

After an almost 30-year lay off, I've taken up traditional archery again. I was a bad shot then and even worse shot now, but it's just as fun as I remember it! Hope to get skilled enough for a traditional hunt in the future.
