    Made a big Mistake Today

I drove up to Dallas today with Coon007 to pick up some materials for his project on the DIY section of the site, and I convinced him to take a detour and head to Bob's place in Manchaca.
Bob is currently making me a Blueridge Takedown longbow and I wanted to see how it was comming along. That is going to be a pretty bow, I tell you what! Anyways he showed us some of his new prototype foward handle bows and wow. He even let us shoot one and fast is an understatement for this new bow of his. I have finally started working again after a long dry spell and am now trying to find a way to buy me one of those new bows. First time I held that bow, first time I shot in about 2 months and I grouped 3 inches at about 15yrds. I was drooling, there was a blank expression on my face and, for once in my life, I was speechless. If you ever get a chance, you gotta try one.
We were only going to stop for quick visit, but ended up staying for over 2 hours just shooting the breeze and talking bows.
Bob it was a pleasure and hopefully we will be able to swing by that way again on the way home tomorrow or the day after.

I thought you said you made a mistake. Stopping at Bob's is never a mistake.

I hate it when that happens.
Been there and done that back at the first of the month.
Wound up buying a Superstition to go with the Wildcatt he's making me.

It is when you easily give into temptation and are trying to figure out what to sell to buy a new bow that you do not need...lol
I think I want every bow in his shop now

What's up Alex? Just think how bad it would be if you lived real close to Bob and hunted with him on a lease. Just think of how hw would call you up on the phone every time something new popped up in his shop. Just think of all the new bows you would have then. Welcome to my world (it is not really that bad till your wife walks in the room and says "where did you get that bow from"). Answer: "er.eh....... I have had this one for a long time".

I hope you end up with one of those BlackHills,

Gatorgar, if you can convence someone to detour from Dallas all the way to Austin, then you have a good shot at covencing Bob that he needs to let you test drive one of his new bows for several years!!!!!lol I know ya'll must live close to Austin, and I am amazed you had to go to Dallas for materials, but it read a little funny to me. No, it doesn't take much to entertain me these days!!!lol

I think it is worse if you don't bring your checkbook. The last time I went, my friend, who brought money, bought the bow I wanted.

Thanks for the kudos Alex. Glad to hear that you and George made it back ok. Sorry your bow was not finished but you said I had 2 days. Hehe. Will be finishing it up tomorrow and shipping Sat in the AM. He is right about this bow guys. It is a sneaker. Even suprised me. Hope to get pics up on my web site soon. Maybe I can talk the Photograper/web person, (my dear wife of 35 years to post a pic on here)

Tad Doc...We were driving up from Zapata and had to pass by his shop anyways. Coon was in a hurry to get to Dallas and I was in a hurryu to see Bob's shop, and since I was driving...well we went to the shop, lol
Bish...I envy you, hehe To be able to "test" a different bow of his every day...to see someone as talented as him create works of art. Not trying to brown nose or anything but Bob can really build a bow.
Bob...after seeing that half completed bow you are making me, I was trying to find a way to extend our trip. I was half tempted to slash a tire or cut a fuel line, if it meant us spending an extra day in Dallas and then being able to shoot that bow fresh off your bench. Now I am going to have to wait for a slow postal truck to get to my house. These next few days are going to feel like years to me hehe. Thanks again for that bow and I will do her proud.
