    Cant wait for 3-D season

While i am still working on getting a deer, i know it wont be long before we start shooting 3-D again. i have had so little time to see or talk to all my great friends that i shoot 3-D with. I know this year will be awesome. i want to hit all the shoots and we will make the trip to Legget to shoot Smoke & feather's shoot this year.

I'm with ya Woody! Deer season is going so slow this year I think I will be plenty ready to shoot at lions and tigers and bears and such. Starts up in Jan around here and I guess the first big trad shoot will be Cowtowns Trad shoot (end of Feb / first of March timeframe).

I've never done a 3D tournament with trad gear. What's the average distance of shot, and what is the max distance?

Most of the time the avg shot will be 20yds or even a little less. Minimum shot distance 1yd, maximum out to 60yds or so.

60 seems a bit out there for trad gear!

Can someone post a schedule of the shoots or a web link?

                  Check out the TBOT site

Traditional Bowhunters of Texas posts schedules once clubs have firmed up their shoots for the year.
Our club (Denton County Archers in Aubrey) hosts the FIRST official TBoT shoot held in Texas usually around the 3rd or 4th week of February. I think we had something like 70 shooters Feb.21 and 22, 2009.
                  Here's the TBoT link:

I did the most of the shoot results pages for Brenda Stein last year and will again fro 2010 if she wants me to. Most folks enjoy seeing how they stacked up as well as their "name in lights" on the internet .
You can check out last year's schedule and results at the link I provided above.
Not all shoots posted are TBoT sanctioned, and it's nice to have a place to post regular club shoots in addition to the club websites.

It is! But you won't mormally see more that 1 or 2 real long shots in a shoot and they are usually at real big targets. We all know we would not shoot an animal at 60yds but it is great fun shooting at foam that far away once in a while.

I will have to try 3D this year. Can you shoot any arrow you like? Wood, carbon, aluminum.

Theres classes for wood. Aluminum and carbon you shoot in the open class.
                          selfbow is wood only.

I can't wait either!! I have no place to hunt, besides, at a 3-D shoot you are guaranteed at least 30 shots at all kind of animals and you don't have to gut anything!!!
