    question for the arrow guro's

ill start by explaining what my set up is and what i want to do.

My arrows are gold tip trad 3555's and are 29.25" from cut to cut. they have 5 inch feathers and 15gr inserts, 110 brass weights and 125 heads on the front. this set up is shooting like darts out of my 56lb recurve that i draw to about 28" now after a change in my shooting.

I am wanting to tack on some arrow weight but even a 20gr difference up front changes alot on arrow flight.

I have tried arrow tubes but they change the spine alot in my trials. i can cut the arrow another inch down but does anyone know the range of point weight that will get the arrow back to that perfect spine. in other words if i cut a inch off how much more tip weight can i stack to get it back to the softer spine for my set up? ill lose 11gr. in arrow but im wanting to gain about 50 grain total arrow weight and would perfer it up front.

any guidance would be appreciated and i hope this makes since

    John

What overall weight are you looking for? Sounds like you should be fairly heavy now!

just tie rocks on them with kite string about half way down the arrow and close your eyes when you shoot and open them after you hear it hit (something) bet you never see a prob. JUST A THOUGHT

well i cut an 1 1/4" off and threw another 100 grs up front. so a total of 350 up front. the arrows bareshafted decent just like that with no other change... im going to fletch it up and see what happens.

Sam i need more information on how your adding your weight.... im getting horrible flight with the setup you mentioned. im shooting in my apartment testing this and i just took out a lamp and big screen shooting with the kite string..... ill halt all testing until i hear more about how to do this.

Disperse the additional weight you want to both the front and the rear of the arrow.

You can get the GT nock adapters that allow you to use the same weights at the rear that you are using on the point. This is the method I use, and I love it.

You can also add weight at the rear with arrow wraps, and fletching increase, but it isn't as easily adjustable as the weight system.

With the GT weight system, and utilizing it on both ends of the arrow, not only am I able to get the overall weight I desire at the length I desire, but I am also able to get the dynamic spine, and the FOC I desire at the same time.

You already have the weights, all you need to invest in is the nock adapters, and I can pretty much guarantee you will be pleased with the results.

If not - send them to me, cuz I'll use em in a heart beat.

I dont need more weight... i just want that solid transfer feeling you get with heavy arrows and i want them to be alittle heavier for my 60lb bow too

The quickest way is to just add a toothpick under your rest plate to build it out, then the bow will need lighter spined arrows. You probably wont have to cut the arrows, or at least not nearly enough.

Make sure you add a broadhead to one of the shorter arrows because depending on how you hold the bow the blad may hit your finger or your bow before you get to full draw.

Those are some mighty light arrows even shooting a recurve, I'd check the spine for sure.
my guess is with the weight and broadhead you should probably be shooting about 35# of draw. I may be wrong ?

Ya they sound light to me too. I shoot them out of a 43 lb bow and 60... They seem to spine heavier in my experience but they shoot like a dream with the tip weight I have... I shoot the same arrow out off all my bows just different tip weight....
