Must feel good to be shooting your longbow well.
I've "retired" my Massie longbow for now...will try to learn how to shoot it again, sometime. Enjoying my BL recurve, now.

        Missed ya Ragie.

        Had us pinin sooo bad!!!

Whats the poundage on your longbow. I'm a diehard Carbon Express fan for carbons. Of course, for me they come in second to good old Port Orford Cedar.

46 at 26 Tracy. Is there anything that would cause porposing besides to high a nock point...

                Hey Raging,
It was nice to meet you at the bow shop the other day.
You shot the Bob Lee very well. Hopefully you get that new short one you were talking about.

The great thing about Bob Lee recurves, is that the shelf is cut 3/16 past center. This allows you to shoot just about any arrow you would like to shoot. ( these bows are what I consider a true center shot bow)

Ragie, I've caught myself pushing the nock down a few times when drawing. The nock point is fine, but when I go to draw, my top finger pushes the nock down off the nock point.

If your shelf isn't radiused, it can porpoise too. Easy fix depending on which way you want to take it. You can use a rest, such as a feather rest or one of them plastic thinkies that stick to the strike plate. Or, you can lift your leather tab up and place a piece of leather or other material under it to make a bump about mid way.

Weak and stiff spine can do it too.

Lot of different causes, lot of different fixes. I'd start by raising the arrow off the shelf a little bit, leaving a gap between the rest and the strike plate for the feather to pass cleaner. You'll need to readjust your nock point if you do this. If you're using split finger, watch that top finger to make sure you're not pushing your nock down.

Well, hope that's more confusing than it sounds. (or something)
