    I have been practicing

and finally went to the lease to shoot out of my stands a little and realised that I am going to have a bit of trouble. I practice sitting and standing but prefer sitting because my bad back does not like standing for long periods of time. But with this recurve I have to stand in my ladder stands or I hit the ladder stand with the bottom limb.
i also realised that my feeder pens are 18 yds from my stand. Never gave the distance much thought with the compound. So now i am going to have to bait closer to the stand and hope the cows don't find it while I'm hunting.:confused
But no matter what, I am more excited about this season with trad. gear than I have been in many years with my compound.

    Wish me luck

Best of luck to you! I was just wondering if you cant the bow when you shoot? I've found that if I must shoot from a sitting position, I turn more or less sideways in the chair... and because of how I cant my bow, I can almost shoot straight down without the limbs hitting anything. Just a thought.

Throw some hand corn between you and the feed pen, the deer will normally find it and give you the closer shot.

I know what you are talking about on ladder stands, I don't know if you have tried this, but I turn sorta sideways on the them. One leg on the outside of the rail and then back to the foot rest. It's a little ackward but better than standing for hours.

                          Good luck

That is exactly what I do, and have always shot like that out of those ladder stands.
Problem with the recurve is that when getting the bow into position I keep hitting the lower limb on the stand. I'm not used to haveing such a long bow up there with me.

Maybe you could strap a bucket to it, and raise you up a couple of feet.

If it were me, I would keep experimenting until I found something that would work. Standing for an entire hunt on a ladderstand, would not work for me, or it would be a short hunt (like an hour or so).

If you are going to hunt effectively for a long time, you need to be comfortable.
