I have the opportunity to buy a few guns as I was looking through a safe of someone that’s considering thinning theirs out (lots of cool old quality stuff in it). One I thought was really cool but an odd caliber is a clean old Mohawk in 222. Could this be used as a kids deer rifle? Size wise it’s perfect kid gun but I’ve never owned this caliber. My first deer rifle was a 243 but know lots of kids started with a 223. Also I don’t ever see the ammo anywhere. Looking up online it looks like it’s common around 50 grain. Seems a little light?

I don’t reload as much as I used to but I’m still set up for it and do it once or twice a year.
