    Remington Stock Re-Finish

I have a few questions about an older gun I grew up shooting. Its a Remington mountain rifle with a wood stock. It seems the clear coat on the fore end of the stock has started to chip away some leaving small +/- 3/16" holes in the clear coat. Is this something that can be easily fixed or does the entire stock need to be sanded and re-finished? The gun is roughly 35 years old and has mostly lived in a safe. Thanks for the input.

More than likely it will need to be stripped and refinished

Strip it however don’t sand it, you’ll round edges over like that. Use a scraper and you can tell when you’re taking off the clear coat vs wood. I recently did a mode 7 from 1984 and just finished it with teak oil and a layer of renaissance wax.

Any suggestions where I can send it to have it done. Having never done I really don’t want to learn on this particular gun stock. Thanks
