    22LR Bolt Rec

Looking for a host for a new suppressor and have it narrowed down to:

    Bergara BMR
    Tikka T1X
and the CZ457 Varmint or ProVarmint (prefer wood but need suppressor ready)

Waiting for can anyway so availability aside, what does the GS prefer? Intended use will be plinking out to 100yd and squirrel/nuisance bird. I dabbled a bit with 300 subs through a 30 cal suppressor so have a Q... Is it realistic to expect any accuracy from quality 22lr subsonic rounds? What about out to 100yds? If so, it will be dedicated subsonic gun.

    Any other to consider?

    Thanks all.

The round steel target is 5 shots at 150 yds using holdover hashes so not a super precise hold. The other steel target is about 15 shots at 50 yds standing off tripod. The orange dots are 5 shot groups testing different ammo.

I have a t1x and b14r steel that are top notch if you want to shoot a ragged hole with Norma tac22 bulk get either one. If you want spend more on better ammo get cz. That’s been my experience.

And yes good subsonic ammo is very accurate out to 100yds. I shoot subs to 200. Cci subsonic hollow points are dang accurate in both rifles. My cz shoots lights out with eley tenex and lapua pistol ammo.

The bulk Norma tac22 is like 1070 but still subsonic out of all 3 rifles with a suppressor.
Also my cz is the regular varmint with the non adjustable stock.

my bergara shoots sub moa at 100 with eley .. my buddy had a tikka and sold it, he didn't like the ergo .. he shoots a cz now and it prefers the sk over the eley ..

the cz action is smoother than mine , you can cycle the bolt and retain sight picture pretty easy on his , the bergara has a noticeable notch as you raise and lower the bolt moving you off target... if you don't shoot matches it won't make any difference..

we shoot steel... kyl at 50 , piano key at 75 , 2" rat at 100 , 3" apple at 130 , 4" diamond at 160 and pretty much can hit perfect scores with either rifles once you figure out the wind

we also have a 300 yard 12x12 and pretty much hit that with boring accuracy once we figure out the wind as well. takes me 12.8 mils dial up to get there... but it gets there ...
i have a 30 moa base on mine if i remember right

either rifles can do it, it all boils down to ergonomics

i bought the bergara at the time as the cz was out of stock everywhere.. turns out i like it better .
But if i was to shoot matches like he does i'd have that bolt worked to smooth out the action and take off the bump .. it is annoying if you're on the clock .

ammo shots subsonic out of my rifle with swr specter can on it ... the sound it makes is pretty addicting ... makes you want to burn through ammo though..

Almost got a Bergara carbon, until I saw it was just a sleeve around a steel barrel.

If I had the funds, I’d get a CZ. All are solid choices.

I have a BMR Carbon that is my favorite .22. Looks good, feels good and shoots very good. Shoots Eley Subsonic HP under 1/2” @ 50 and no change in poi suppressed. Since I use it for hunting I trashed the 20moa base that came on it and put a Trigger Tech trigger on it. Have my thermal on it now for sniping corn thieves from the blind.

Can’t help with the rifles you listed, mine is a Savage B22 FV-SR.

I shoot CCI standard velocity or subsonic through it, the standard says 1070fps and is always subsonic through the savage and my 10/22. Both are very accurate and will print small groups at 100yds.

If you haven’t shot a bolt 22 with a can yet, you are in for a treat with how quiet it is. I’ve shot raccoons stealing corn, and deer at another feeder 50yds away didn’t even pay it any attention, just raised their heads and then went back to eating. CCI quiet ammo(710fps) is laughably quiet. Just hear the firing pin drop.

CZ Provarmint is a great suppressor host. But any of the ones you listed would be a ton of fun.

I have the Ruger Precision 22lr and it has been great. Can shoot 1 ragged hole at 50. Less than 1" at 100 and have shot to 150 with great results. Shooting Norma TAC 22 and a CGS hydra-AL

I was in the same boat and went with the Ruger precision. For the price if it didn’t shoot I could put a new barrel on it and almost a trigger for the stock price of the others.

So far it shoots great and I shoot it a ton. Tons of fun. Eventually I’ll put a better scope on it instead of the 10x SWFA but it’s fun watching the subs fly at 100

Good stuff. The Ruger precision would be neat but I imagine it's a bit heavy for my intended purpose. Speaking of light, I can't believe the Christensen Ranger is still in the classifieds.
