    Websites not to order from.

With guns, ammo and reloading supplies flying off the shelf I thought I'd make a thread that we can all share based off of our experience on which websites are legit and which ones to stay away from.

Dowdle Sports and Outdoors is a no go for me. I ordered some bullets and never received any information on them. They showed to be in stock but they weren't. It wasn't until I emailed them that I found out but fortunately I was able to cancel the order.

I do think it's a legit website, that just don't stay on top of what they have in stock or follow up with their customers it seems like to me. Someone else may have a completely different experience with them but i probably won't try to order from them again.

You don't have to go into detail on which websites to stay away from if you don't want. You can just say they suck or it's a scam or whatever. Or go into detail, whichever.

Is Lipsey's a legit website? They have a good inventory of guns but I honestly haven't heard of them before.

I know from experience that you should not buy anything from Buy My Mags.com. I ordered six mags from them, they were all listed as being in stock. Four of the six were supposed to be factory Glock mags. I got the two non factory Glock mags, I never got any of the factory Glock mags. They replied with a few BS emails, but never did anything. They were the only company that showed to have those factory mags in stock, but I did not know that until after I did not receive the mags. Had I looked on other web sites first, I would have found it very suspicious that only they had those mags, where nobody else had them. But I went to the first site that popped up, saw a bunch of mags listed as out of stock, then many listed as being in stock. I was very happy to see they listed factory Glock mags in stock, and ordered four of them.

Afterwards not receiving the mags, I then checked with other companies found none of them had those mags, then I checked on reviews on Buy My Mags.com, and found a long list of people who also did not get what they ordered. I have never been ripped off by any online company previously. Since that deal, I check out companies I don't know, before I buy from them.

Simple, don't order from anywhere that doesn't accept a credit card. The amount of scam websites that popped up in the last couple years is ridiculous, they all only take nonrefundable payment methods (Zelle, Cashapp, BTC, etc).

Yes that's true. But even the website I mentioned accepted a credit card. They just didn't deliver on their end. It may not just be a scam that would make me choose not to order from a specific website. If their customer service ain't worth a dang I'll still stay away from them. It could be anything at all that someone has had a bad experience from not just getting stolen from.

That's why I figured this would be a good idea because if it's gonna cause people grief ordering from one of these companies out there they may as well go through someone else.

But I agree. You have to watch out for the warning signs. And I don't mean this as disrespectful but a lot of times older folks get on those websites and get swindled out of money. We have older people on this website so this could keep them from getting stolen from. If we can lets out anybody that would screw other people over.

Been around for 80 yrs selling firearms, sporting goods, and started out in the fur tanning & trapping industry in 1943

                  Lipsey's

Richard Lipsey would contact firearms manufacturers and order “special editions” that were limited to 200-500 special designed pistols/rifles that were non-cataloged items. Those firearms were and still are in high demand by collectors and bring big bucks.

                  Here’s an example…

Every place I look and am not familiar with I will search “[company name] fraud” and it is amazing how many pop up as fraudulent.

If it has "xxfirearms" "xxgunstore" or something like that with "xx" being a manufacturer name its most likely a scam. Lots of sites have popped up pretending to be associated with manufacturers. Tell tell signs include:

Rare or hard to get guns in stock
Full catalog of guns from a maker, all in stock
Older out of production guns in stock
                      Prices are cheap
Only payment is electronic like venmo, zelle, etc, doesn't take credit cards

When in doubt, google it and 99 times out of 100 its some pos acammer

It’s so danged simple to find out if they are legit without a special thread on it! Just use whatever search engine you have and type in - is “ whatever site “ legit? ! That’s all anyone has to do! If it’s seems to good to be true then it isn’t - no matter how bad you want it!

Again, not just sites that will take your money. If there's one that you had any trouble with you can put it here. The one I talked about didn't take my money. I asked to cancel my order and they did it. But they sure weren't going to tell me when my order would be shipped because I'm sure they wanted to do business.

Right now a lot of things are backordered. I wouldn't be surprised if more companies have "in stock" written under products on their website than we realize. Some of it has probably been on backorder for a year or more.

If any website takes Zelle or PayPal, it’s a scam.
