Tacticool Rem 870 conversion

I've got a plane ole black syn 870 here at the house that hasn't been used in a long time. Not sure why, but kinda want to convert it to a tactical home defense style gun. If nothing else, my oldest kiddo will enjoy helping along the way.

There seems to be many, many options. Not sure where to start first.

Recommendations, good or bad? Parts or specific items to look for?

I did that with an 870 i bought for $75 from a guy at work. I put a duracoat finish on it (buy on amazon). 18.5 inch barrel, mag extension, new fore end (hogue i think) and new stock. All off of either ebay or amazon. took it apart completely to clean when i put the duracoat finish on which was pretty easy. it was fun to do, came out pretty good i think. it's my hidden by the bed gun......
