Cost to have muzzle brake installed

What’s a ballpark for having a muzzle brake installed including having the barrel threaded. Just picked up a 300wm that’s on the lighter side. Pretty sure my old ***** will appreciate less recoil. Already wear hearing aids so noise isn’t an issue [emoji16]

Morgan at Class 3 Machine charges around $75 (May have gone up slightly) to thread a barrel. Quick turnaround and excellent work. The cost of a brake will vary a lot depending on what you want. Could be anywhere from $30 to $300.

May be easier to put a Sims AirTech recoil pad on the rifle. It tamed my Tikka 7 Mag so it’s fun to shoot with a t shirt. Just a thought.

Not much to add, but I've shot a 7# Seekins 300 WM with a muzzle brake and it kicked like a 223.

personally on a hunting rifle , i'd do a custom job. last one i did was $300 a long time ago at a local gun shop .

reasons for that are ... first if you have a light gun already , chances are it has a light contour barrel which means the thread pitch will be small .

Second, unless you want some obnoxious off the shelf comp , they can contour a custom brake to be identical diameter from your barrel and even make the seam disappear.

it will make a world of difference. good luck!

100% agree on going with Morgan to thread the barrel. Depending on the diameter of the barrel, it may thread at 1/2x28 which means you'll probably have to get an adapter to convert it to 5/8x24. I found that most brakes for a .300 are 5/8x24.

Installing the brake is actually very easy....plenty of videos to help guide you.
