    18” 6.5 CM Velocity

I chopped down my 6.5 CM to 18” and plan to use it suppressed as a truck/stand rifle. I am running 42.0 grains of H4350 behind a 143 gr ELDX. My avg velocity yesterday without the suppressor was 2885 FPS. I understand the suppressor may add 10-20 FPS. So I am assuming I’m around 2600 FPS suppressed. I was hoping to get to 2700 FPS. I have read some folks load H4350 up to 43 grains but don’t think that will get me to 2700 and don’t know if I will have pressure issues at 43 grains. Now, 2700 isn’t a magical number I just have to achieve, I just thought it was achievable.

Anyone have data running something similar?

    Different powder possibly?

You are getting 2885 fps out of a CM????

I have the same set up, accuracy trumps velocity for me. My .5 moa loads ended up in the 2550 fps range suppressed. They dial out to 1k yards with the ballistic calculator.

I have turned that gun into a truck/UTV gun. It now uses a Barnes 127gn that shoots 2830 fps and wrecks deer and pigs

I did help a friend develop a 140 Nosler CC load and we ended up using RL15 with slightly higher velocities than the H4350.

            Doubt he's getting 2800fps with a 143gr bullet.....Most likely a typo.

              I chopped down a 6.5 x 284. Shooting the 143 ELDX's, its now getting 2650 fps

Dad gum it, I proofread it too.

I am currently getting 2585 unsuppressed.

I will need to check my notes but I just loaded up 43gr H4350 in Lapua SRP brass running 140 BTHP Hornady Match bullets and I got right at 2710 average speed on 10 test loads. No major pressure signs, unfortunately my rig likes 41gr the best. I'm running a Tikka action and X-Caliber barrel and SRS brake. YMMV

I cut all my stuff down to a little over 16". You only lose about 20-25 FPS per inch is the rule of thumb, Its not that much. Some of my guns actually shoot better now that I have a stiffer barrel. No way I would should long barrels with long suppressors! Almost all my guns are cut down, makes it way better to carry and way better in the deer blind

                    Good Luck!!!!

I'm in the same boat brother. Accuracy, Accuracy, Accuracy.

It shot .5 MOA at 24” and at 18” the other day. I’ll try to run the charge up and see if I can keep the accuracy.

What’s your coal? I’ll run a QL for you and see what has the highest predicted velocities
