    rifle slings ...

I'm wanting a decent leather rifle sling that is comfortable, not too stiff but yet really durable. All the slings I've had before were with either canvas/cloth, neoprene, or rubber.
I'd like to hear suggestions and what you've found to be suited to actual hunting and not just something pretty.

I use this one and I like it pretty good.

I like the Montana Gun Slings.

The original Montana Sling™ that was hand crafted back in 1990, is still attached to the rifle Pat hunts with most and has passed with flying colors on successful big game hunts in Montana, Alaska and the Northwest Territories, Idaho, Wyoming, and just about every other state in the west.

Man, the best sling I ever used back when I used to use bolt guns and spot n stalk hunting was the old leather sling that came with the original Remy 700BDL's... Simple, comfortable and durable... Even though my 700's are all safe queens, they spend many days in the field in the past and they all have the original slings on them...

I never cared for the beaver-tail padded slings. They were comfortable to carry the rifle, but 90% of the time, the rifle was not being carried. It was in some other position and that big ol beaver-tail was just in the dang way... Tried 'em and always went back to the plain old Remy sling... The old Latigo slings were cool and all, but too bulky and noisy... back to the Remy...

Montana slings for me are the worst, the more you use it the more the knot slips and I’ve had my rifle around my ankles while pulling a deer through the brush more times than one man should. The last one I took off and threw in the woods during a Voodoo Fit ! I’ve owned 3 Montana slings and every one of the crappers did the same thing after slogging around for half a season.

In my experience there is only one sling and I use them on all of my hunting rifles

I do have a couple of Vero with sewn swivels

I've got Montana sling and Murray leather https://www.murraycustomleather.com/slings.htm
slings on my guns. Hunted elk and high country mule deer with them and no issues.

I'm going to do what I hate seeing others do on the GS - I'm going to respond contrary to what you specified - you said 'leather'.
While I don't use my rifle much any more, I put a Safari Sling on it years ago. It attaches in a way that the gun rests on your chest but can be brought up and aimed in one simple motion (without taking it off your shoulder). Mine is heavy canvas/cordura (??) and has a camo pattern. I installed it 25+ years ago and it looks like new today.

The lady that owns Puro Pinche Low Fence Hunting page on Facebook makes leather slings and tools them. She does nice work. Her name is Lauren Hahn.

I love the old slings that came with the rem 700’s super simple comfortable enough, easy to adjust quick and quite and you can easily wrap your arm in it to provide more stability in sitting shooting positions.

The Murray leather is just like them and I plan on picking some more up

AA&E. As far as leather slings go they’re the only ones I use on all my wood stock bolt rifles. They’re pretty and comfortable.
