    Scope for 30-30?

It's time to replace the glass on my Marlin 30-30 that my grandfather left me when he passed. It's had the same glass on it for as long as I have had it (24 years) and I'm pretty sure it's what he originally put on it when he bought the gun.

    What would y'all recommend?

A 2x7 of any good brand. Burris, Leupold, etc.

1x4 would look good as would a 2x7

Hard to beat a Leopold 2x7

I really like the Leopold 1.5 x 4 on my 30-30. I’m generally shooting it at pigs or deer from 100 yards or closer - often much closer

I put a Redfield/Leupold 2-7x34 on my Marlin 30/30 and it is a good match for the gun and caliber. Now Redfield is owned by Academy Sports. So the Redfield line might not be the same. You cannot go wrong with a Leupold either.

2-7x would work great and fit the look of the gun better.

For a good cheap scope, the Cabelas lever action scope is a good one. I have it mounted on my marlin and it's calibrated for the Hornady leverevolution ammo. I've been shooting with mine for over 10 years and no complaints.

I have old Tasco 3x9x40 on my 336 from WAAAYY back... Still dead on 40+ years later.
No telling how many deer it has killed between my DAD and I..

X2 I did the same. Plus the redfield just had a retro vibe that I liked on the 30-30.

I found a old gloss Leupold 3-9x40 on EBay for my Dads after he passed. I’ve been very happy with it. Redfield would have worked too.

When I finally received my grandfathers Marlin 30-30 it had some off brand 4x scope from the 50"s on it with some cheap mounts.I still rememder he would nail a coffee can lid to a tree and have me shoot it to make sure it was still sighted in every year before season started. That was 47 years ago,I had a leupold 2x7 with nice mounts just waiting for me to get my hands on that gun.He passed 40 years ago and I still miss my Paw-Paw and I take that ol 30-30 out every now and then and shoot a critter or two.I think a leupold 2x7 is just perfect for those ol lever guns.
