    SA-35 Hi Power.

If anyone's in the market for a new 9mm I highly recommend this pistol. My grandpa got one and I got to test fire it the other day. I was going back and fourth between two 4" plates at 20 yards and hit 13 out of the 15 shots I took. My grandpa ran a magazine through it and it wasn't as good with the aftermarket magazine. I forget what brand it was. The magazine that came with the pistol worked flawlessly. The trigger felt great and the pistol feels great in your hand.

Also test fired a friends Taurus G3, did equally as good accuracy wise but the trigger took some getting used to. Real squishy trigger but ran without any problems whatsoever.

Going back to the Springfield Armory. I'd have to say it's my new favorite pistol. If you're thinking about buying one, go for it.

I still have yet to see one in the wild, but if I do I have a feeling I’ll buy it.

I think it took him about 6 months to get his. He was on a waiting list and 2nd in line. The gun shop got it and the guy that had first dibs didn't want it.

I forgot to mention it's a really good lookin gun. Really like the looks of them. Of course looks ain't nothin if it doesn't shoot good. But it definitely does do that.

I don't think you'd regret buying one. I can shoot a Beretta model 92 better than any pistol I've ever shot, until now. It's a good shootin little sucker.

That Taurus did surprise me though as far as accuracy goes. If a guy could get that trigger in those better it'd be a dang good pistol to have. Still is probably once you get used to it.

The Hi Power is my favorite John Browning pistol, I would take one over a 1911, any day. Really pretty much the same gun, but a double stack 9mm, instead of the single stack 45. I would suspect the Hi Power was designed after the 1911, usually for completely stock guns, the Hi Power has a bit better trigger. Excluding modern higher quality guns, that are not made to the old crude standards.

I have read a couple of reviews of the SA 35 Hi Power, they were good, but the two guys who I have read reviews from said they liked the old Belgium Brownings more. I don't know if they were just being biased. I do remember them saying that Springfield Armory changed something on the gun, that they did not like. I don't remember what it was that Springfield changed. I have not got to see one in person, much less shoot one.

I would think it would be a good gun, enjoy.

My grandpa told me they changed something on the new ones. I can't remember what it is. Maybe it's that you can shoot without the magazine in it? I forget what he told me about that.

I would like to see a comparison with the Rock Island TAC ULTRA FS HC 9MM 17RD. I have one in .45 and it's crazy accurate. Maybe a bit heavy but only if you are limp wristed. The Rock has adjustable rear sight and the traditional 1991 feel.

Thanks for the report, that’s good to hear. Mine should be ready for pickup Saturday or Monday. Finally broke down and bought one on gb after bids got more reasonable.

I haven't had the opportunity to shoot a Rock Island Armory pistol yet. I wouldn't mind having one of those .1911's chambered in .22TCM. Most likely I will someday.

No problem, I think you'll like it. Let us know your thoughts on it as well when you get it.

Rattler, try the Taurus GX4. I have one and it’s a great little pistol.

Yes, no magazine disconnect in the SA version. That’s said to make the trigger pull better but I’ve yet to lay eyes on one.

All of the Taurus pistols I've shot seemed to be really good pistols. Especially since they're affordable compared to some out there. For a person on a budget I think Taurus is the way to go. I'm a "on a budget" kind of guy. I ain't ever seen one malfunction and I hit what I aimed at with them. Can't ask much more than that out of any shooter. Good guns for the money no doubt.

Years ago I was gonna get one of those fancy lookin Taurus 1911's chambered in .38 Super. Ended up getting a Springfield Armory .45 instead. Wished I'd have got that Taurus. I thought it was a slick lookin gun. Still do.

I thought that's what he told me but then I got to thinking it was the other way around. But it seems like they did something to that new pistol to make the trigger better and that may have been what it was. He told me more stuff about those guns from the time the Hi Power was first made until now than I can remember. I got a history lesson and a lesson on how they work and what's good or bad on newer ones....it's a lot to remember.

That guy knows a lot of information. My mind skips around too much to really absorb everything he says. I've never been tested for ADHD but I may have a touch of it.

It’s very easy to remove the magazine safely on the Browning high power.

Yup, makes the trigger pull much better and magazines drop free.
