I Want to Buy a New Gun

Meh, Tikka wood is the same pressed wood fibers as the other guns in that cost range. I assumed he would want a real walnut wood, not fake.
VX-3 is just ok in my book and pretty bare bones.

I’m not into owning a bunch of rifles. I enjoy shotguns where you are actually shooting a moving target. A nice compound and recurve are also really fun to shoot. Shooting a beautiful 300 win mag at a bench isn’t terribly exciting to most people. I understand competition shooting is fun but most people don’t. That being said a lever action 45/70 will personally be one of the next rifles I purchase and maybe only 1-2 more after that.

The Leupold VX-5HD 3–15x44mm CDS-ZL2 Scope is built for versatility and reliability. The HTMR reticle on this Leupold scope offers more precise hold-over. SCHEELS
Either one of these if it were me in 300 win mag. Leupold Vx5hd for the scope. If I was looking for a 1 and done hunting rifle this would be it for less than 3k and have a nice looking rifle to boot and a little bit of money left over to buy 2-300 rounds of ammo for it.

I use a practice rife in .223 but I still put a few rounds through one or more of my primary hunting rifles every time I go to the range. On your budget I would probably avoid magnums as barrel life is short (1000 to 1200). I have the budget to change barrels so I do not consider this. Do you believe recoil negatively affect recoil.
I have confidence in 6.5 CM on all North American game period as far as I can ethically shoot. That said, others think you need more velocity or heavier bullets.
For me in your budget
Sako S20 hunter 6.5 CM , Nightforce shv F1 mil, seekins
if you need more velocity
Sako S20 hunter 6.5 PRC, Nightforce shv F1 mil, seekins

First of all "this last gun" thing has got to go. A good rule of thumb is you can have the same amount if guns as your wife has shoes. We all know how women are with shoes.
I have a cpl of questions, You want a new gun, what do you want it for? Hunting, target and 1000 yd gun. Will you shoot it often? or take it to the range once a year and then hunt from a blind that is 100 yards away from a feeder.
What type of shooting experience and abilities do you have? Some guys can hit bottle caps at 200 yrds and some may hit a garbage can lid
Their is no sense to be looking at a high dollar custom rifle for a 100 yd shot
