I think you must be talking to me since this certainly describes me...not sure tho. I couldn't really hear you for the ringing in my ears! Lol
Seriously, I spent my youth and well into adulthood shooting without protection and also running saws and construction equipment without it as well. Now my hearing has suffered terribly.
Do yourselves a favor folks and always wear hearing protection.

I have this exact rifle and I’d feel comfortable saying with the factory brake it has less recoil than a 243

just suppress it and then you have the best of both.

i have a bergara ridge special purpose with the 18" barrel and run a suppressor on it
        great shooting rifle

being able to confidently aim and shoot accurately is so much more important than the caliber.

i used to have a 300 RUM that kicked so bad and had so much concussive, sonic force, that i could not hit the paper after the first shot.

so i got rid of it for something that i could shoot well.
now i hunt almost 100% with a suppressor and that is a game changer on accuracy and comfort in the field. not to mention the animals don't run to the next county when i shoot.

I just bought the wilderness ridge in 6.5 prc. Going to shoot it this weekend for first time. I have my can on it now but may switch out to the brake just to test it out. The shelf model I played with had a very crisp trigger break. The new one the box I brought home just didn’t adjust to what I like so I put a trigger tech in it. Very happy with this gun, hopefully it shoots good. just wish I had a chronograph to check speed with my can on it. I wouldn’t be afraid of the recoil without brake since it’s a stout weight.

My brother has the wilderness ridge in 300 win mag with the factory break and other then being super loud it does not kick a whole lot I have one in 7 mag and now my 270 is the hardest hitting rifle I own

                Makes sense.
Spouse hunted with a 270 for all his life until the 300wsm came out then he made the switch and never looked back.
30 cal in many forms is a great round for big game hunting.
One can never have too many rifles , imo.
