    Weird Tikka Corrosion Issue

I have a buddy that has a Tikka CTR and he is having some weird corrosion issues. I am personally familiar with about 7 of these rifles and this is the only one that is exhibiting this behavior. It’s a white powdery substance leeching out between the action and barrel. Anyone ever seen anything like this? I’m thinking residual blueing salt maybe? The rifle shoots like a dream and is meticulously maintained.

You can completely clean it, put it in the safe, take it out 2 weeks later and it looks like this.

I have what appears to be a white grease coming from that area on a TC Compass II. I'm not worried about it as good as it shoots.

Copper fouling would be my guess. Maybe some of thread lube?

I had a Remington 700 at one time that did the same thing. Not sure what is was.

What does Tikka say it is? I bet you could send them pictures of it and they will know.
