I just thought it would be a lot cheaper to use a Savage that is already set up. A PTG bolt is not cheap, and turning a Remington into Savage gives me cramps. Lol
I actually do own two Savage walking varminters in 22 hornet and 17 hornet. And three savage striker handguns.

Go 270ai 1:8 twist and run the new 6.8 western bullets they have out. If your going to run heavy for caliber anyway.
I have never met anyone who will admit they’re from Wharton[emoji16].

.277 hasn’t caught one and I don’t think it ever will. I’d stick with more mainstream calibers that will have tons of components available; 6.5mm, 7mm 30 cal, etc….
And Blake’s advise is spot on. You are trying to put the proverbial square peg in a round hole. You’ll spend more to have an expensive factory action.

I am pretty sure I am just going to go with 280AI unless I can find someone to trade a standard for Magnum action. It just seems like the easiest route. I can give this to my youngest son when I decide to finally build my 300. He can retire the 7-08 and I will make that ugly savage a plinker.

Need to go take it out and see how it shoots soon.
