    Old Colt-King Target Model

Something different and I thought I would share some pics of an old Colt-King Target Model Revolver that I own. King was a company that made sights and also did target conversions on firearms. A Colt-King conversion would probably be considered a Colt Custom Shop gun now. This revolver was one of 7 made, and it came with a factory set 2 3/4 pound trigger pull. The hammer is called a King Cockeyed Hammer and the front sight has a mirror imbedded in the rib, the target grips are Roper brand.

That's a very interesting piece, never heard of King or any of the guns they modified. I bet that thing is a lot of fun to shoot.

You can see some of the beginnings of the Python design in that revolver. Years later Colt took their 3-5-7 model and turned it into the Python.

My grandpa and his brothers, my dad and uncle were all big gun traders and collectors. I was connected to my grandpa and dad at the hip😂, I watched and learned from them. Dad was in to pocket watches as well but they never really interested me, but I took a shine to single shot pistols and revolvers. I will post up a few now and then, I just figured no one on here would be much interested in stuff like this.

When I was 14 or so , my grandpa ended up with a Remington rolling block carbine rifle. He called it the big fifty, I think it was a 50-70. The story as I remember it was my grandpa bought it off a man up in the panhandle, who wanted it out of the house. That man’s son dug up the rifle out of an old buffalo wallow when he was a kid. The kid ended up getting killed over in Vietnam and the family wanted the rifle gone. My grandpa, dad and me went to a big gun show up in Louisville Kentucky and he took the big fifty. Back then at the large gun shows there would be a side show of some sort and at that one was a quick draw guy doing a side show. My grandpa ended up selling that big fifty to the quick draw guy. Lol, I wanted that rifle real bad and asked my dad to lend me the money for it. Dad said, son you don’t want that thing cause it ain’t worth nothing and we don’t even know where it really come from, it could if come from a pawn shop in Albuquerque 😂.
