    Rifle cleaning question

All my rifles I’ve never really cleaned more than just run a bore snake thru a couple times. I’ve recently watched some videos and bought all the stuff to actually clean it properly.. this may be cause they are old and never cleaned but I have some that I put patch after patch thru and they keep coming out blue, I understand that it’s from copper but if I run a patch thru with copper remover a let it set 5-10 minutes and do it again should I just keep going until the blue is gone? Like is it ever going to be gone or will it always be blue cause I went so long and shot so much thru it without cleaning??

Did your accuracy decrease, or did you just watch a video and decided to do it?
Don't sweat the small stuff. I don't clean until I see accuracy problems then I run a wet patch with hopes though then about 10 dry patches and I'm done.

    Probably every 100 rounds

Yep. Keep scrubbing until the patch comes out clean.

Use a brass bore brush as well.

Well some are used and don’t know previous history, some my grandpa bought in the 70’s-80’s and I know they have never been cleaned, some I bough new 15 years ago and never shot them at paper after the original sighting in..

Sounds like a party. Get your boys (if you’ve got some) or buddies and get some chips sodas and hoppes #9. (Spelling). Do not mix. One gun at a time! Clean em up and let us know what you find.

While I've not used Hoppes copper remover you are on the right track.
Yes, you'll have to keep going until no blue comes out to be clear of all copper.
                    Bore guide is key.

If you are using a bronze/brass brush while using ammonia based cleaners it's gonna produce some blue...squeaky clean is not needed if your gun is printing good groups.

I prefer to do most cleanings with nylon and for deep cleans every couple years use bronze. Bronze and brass both contain copper and ammonia based cleaners can still throw a little blue/green (even when no copper fouling remains).

                          Haaa. Artos beat me.

Factory guns can often benefit from a little copper fouling. Helps fill in imperfections in the rifling.
