    New recoil pad??

Do limbsaver pads still melt. Need to replace the junk on my red label. It's been on there for years and still melting.

I had the same question, and from what I could find they don't. That doesn't mean if left in a hot environment over an extended period of time they would not deteriorate some. I think they realized they had a rubber compound problem and corrected it a few years ago. I felt good enough about them that I purchased one a couple of months ago.

      You replacing it yourself?
On my red label I don’t trust myself but it needs it

Yes I'm doing it myself. I did the one that's on it with a grinding fixture. Not too hard to do with a belt or stationary disc sander. Take your time and be careful.

That’s what I would use, but I wouldn’t do it myself.

My son's 270 in CDL came with the melting pad.

ALL elastomer products have a cure date and shelf life, they eventually all start break down. Environmental conditions can accelerate it as well.

Well mine started melting almost immediately and I have some other guns with fine pads that are over 60 years old.
