    Bergara BMR (micro rimfire)

Who has had one, either carbon or steel? Rem 700 trigger but proprietary sized action and stock??

Any idea the LOP? Couldn't find it on their site or the downloadable sales manual.

I think my 77/22 will be a bit big to start the kids with and I want something light and short enough for them but better than a cricket (got one of those).

    Thanks!

I have a carbon but have never measured lop. I think it’s about standard length. Shoots very good but they don’t like to extract live rounds so I would be hesitant on kids. Best starter .22 for kids is a Anschutz Woodchucker. Scaled down bolt action with magazine and a decent trigger. Shoots lights out as well.

I have the BMR micro in the carbon version. The LOP is 13.5”. Great shooting little rifle. I bought it for my kids as well.

Been looking for one for awhile. If you hear of any Woodchuckers for sale send them my way!

OBG-- I do like that woodchucker-- one on GB right now as a matter of fact. Are they drilled and tapped for scope mounts from the factory?

That's what I like to hear- how old are your kids and how do they handle that LOP? How much butt pad is there that could be ground down?

Another good kid’s rifle is the CZ 452 Scout. Well made but sized down. LOP is 12”. Wood stock that you could shorten if you want. I bought my son one when he was little and he still shoots it even though he’s 25 now.

My son is 10, and my daughter is 7. The butt pad does have a little room if you wanted to alter it. I can take measurements later. I have had mine for about 6 months, and both of the kids have felt very comfortable plinking with it since day one.

CZ 457 Scout is my recommendation. It’s a full size 457 action with a shortened stock and 16” threaded barrel setup for kids. When the kid grows up a bit just snag a new stock for it, and they still have a fantastic rifle that will always fit them. The trigger is pretty nice from the factory, but for $10 and little polishing you can make it excellent
