We used to carry only revolvers when I first became an officer. Out of about 110 officers, exactly 2 carried the Ruger.
It was not as smooth Smith or Colt but if you were out in a boat and lost your anchor, the Ruger could be used in such an emergency.
I have shot them. They are great guns and I notice the built like a tank comments which is true. I believe that is why officers didn’t want to carry them. Lugging it on a hip for 8 plus hours, five days a week just isn’t an enjoyable experience. I hated the weight enough that I carried a Colt Diamondback.
Pro: Built like a tank.

For other purposes they are good guns.
