That said, I use noticeably different mags for AR’s in which I have multiple calibers. Standard PMags for 5.56/223, windowed PMags for 300 BO and will be using metal mags in Grendel soon.
You can also use all PMags and just mark them but I’m already set up with the two different types of them for the reason I mentioned above, so I’ll stick with what my plan is by using metal Grendel specific mags for the reasons above and also because they were designed for that caliber.

Like it. Thank you. Have several P mags. I’ll band or mark them.
I’ve owned several Grendel ARs since about 2008. Don’t try to make the wrong show fit. Get some Grendel specific mags. Life will be better all around and you will enjoy your rifle more.

Ya I’d definitely go grendel specific mags. I never really had luck with duramag on my grendels. Alexander arms is the way to go for atleast what I’ve dealt with.

That would be my thoughts. I have two ARs, that both have larger diameter cases than a 223, both needed different mags to get them to feed properly. Then on the mags I use for the 458, I still have to tweak them some, to get the gun to feed properly, because that round is so large in diameter.
The width of the opening of the top of the mag, is dependent on the diameter of the round being used. If the opening is too narrow, the rounds don't come up as high as they need to, vise versa, if the opening is too wide, it can shoot all the rounds out the top of the mag, just by banging it against something.
I have a lot of different style mags for different calibers. Neither of my non 5.56/22 ARs can you get away with using a 5.56 mag. But a 6.5 Grendel case is smaller in diameter than either of my non 5.56 AR calibers. So the 6.5 would come closer to working with 5.56 mags, but I would still be looking for 6.5 mags.
