    Has HR-957 been tested yet?

Anyone out there in the Green Screen Braintrust know if HR-957 has been tested out in federal court yet? I try to keep my ear to the ground for updates, but haven’t heard anything yet.

The law requires the Texas AG to seek a declaratory judgment in federal court that the Texas suppressor law is constitutional only after someone makes a written statement declaring the intent to manufacture Texas only suppressors.

Apparently the AG received written requests because late in February this year, a civil action was filed in the federal court for the Northern District of Texas in Fort Worth. (cited on the Texas AG website)

The only follow up that I have found is from a law firm in Texas. That article was from the middle of March and basically said the same thing, that the paperwork had been filed and if it does get approval from federal court, the law firm would be glad to help (naturally) in the legal aspects of suppressor manufacturing. Basically it looked like an advertisement that said IF passes, give us a call. That was four months ago with no follow up.

So almost 5 months ago it appears as though the AG has filed the paperwork required by the new law and is waiting a result. This was backed up by a law firm a few weeks later which simply noted that paperwork has been filed and a decision has not been made.
