    Marks on Scope Lens

I have a Zeiss Conquest that was on a rifle that I bought. After examining the scope, I noticed these marks on the lens. I first thought they were smudges, but after cleaning they are still there. You cannot see them looking through scope until you get to the higher magnification and then you still have to look for them. What cause this? Is this the coating that they put on lens. Thanks

Looks like a circular pattern. Was cleaned with a tee shirt probably.

Looks like a defect or chemical maybe caused that. I’ve cleaned plenty of scopes and binos with my tshirt and that’s never happened

Looks like some rough cleaning. I’ve cleaned scopes with everything including acetone and never seen that much. Maybe it was cleaned everyday for a year
