    Rifle Course

I am woefully ignorant about the practicals of rifle shooting. I have owned rifles for years. But I really don't know what I'm doing. What rifle courses have you taken (and would recommend)?

As in bolt guns for hunting / bench shooting or AR platforms for tactical reasons?

        Thank you.

Check out YouTube. Very useful information. Search your specific rifle and scope and go from there.

What are you looking to accomplish? You can spend a lot of money learning how to shoot long range (if that’s your goal) but unless you practice regularly at long range it is a diminishing skill.

Just go out and shoot? Best thing you can do is find someone local to you that knows the process of learning long range shooting and go get some trigger time with a mentor. There isn’t a whole lot that translates from rifle to rifle much less different cartridges that a course will make you use. Getting impacts at distance with someone’s help and doing it on your own with minimal rounds are totally different animals

When I went to Drill Sergeant school we received training from the presidents 100 team. As I chatted with a couple of them one of them recommended this book.

Ryan Cleckner’s Long Range Shooting Handbook

Never read it but they definitely gave their props to it. If it's anything like the class we got it will have some good stuff in it like how to read your wind value based off the tree tops blowing in the wind.

If you got the time and resources and are looking at practical bolt gun operations and use, for a general purpose bolt rifle / hunting applications, Gunsite Academy is world renowned.

I don’t know how far Barksdale, TX is from you but the rifle training you can get from the FTW ranch is what you may be looking for.
