I ordered a Ranger in 22 LR last week and picked it up yesterday. Initial impressions are mixed. I have been around many CZs. The action to me is not quite as smooth as a CZ but it may get better with time. The barrel has play from side to side in the stock and will stay 1/16 to an 1/8 inch either way if pressed one way or the other. The trigger is nice from the factory for a rimfire, and the rifle is much lighter than my 16" 455. As mentioned by others, the 10/22 mag is also a good positive for the Ranger. Overall quality I'm going CZ but for under $600 with the rebate it seems like a decent buy if rifle shoots well. I have another Christensen that I have zero complaints with, so that influenced me slightly.

Its hard to find much of anything 22mag in stock to go look at.

Looks like CZ doesnt make a threaded 22 mag version exvept maybe a pencil barrel?

Would have to buy the wood stock varmint then have it threaded. I would rather buy something threaded with a synthetic stock.
Snag a 457 Varmint and have it threaded. It’ll be worth it. I’ve got a chopped Varmint 457 in my backseat right now next to my RimX. The CZ doesn’t give up much to the RimX at all.

You’re not wrong, but they’re all hard to come by these days.
