I know there have been many threads about this but thought I would start my own. I’m looking to get my first suppressor and am unsure about the best way to do it and which suppressor/suppressors to get. I know I want to set up a trust, who do y’all use? How much of a headache is the process? What suppressor do y’all recommended for a 223 AR? I would like to have one dedicated for my AR’s and then for my hunting rifles. The largest caliber I w ould use it on for hunting would be a 300 PRC. Any advice is appreciated.

Suppressor Question
If you are going to have multiple. And if you get one or two, you’ll get ten. Haha. Do a trust. I purchase through SilencerShop and used their process, which is amazingly easy, if you happen to be near a shop that has a kiosk.
You can chase decibels, but each rifle has its own performance with a suppressor. I’d make sure the manufacturer has a lifetime warranty, unconditional.
Titanium will be lightest, of course
There a lot of manufacturers out there. https://pewscience.com/ has a ton of suppressor data you can look at, but it’s not exhaustive.
I have 3 rugged. 9mm, 30 cal, and a new 556 (in jail right now). I run the 30cal on a 556 at the time. But it will allow me to swap it over to a bigger caliber if needed, say a 300blk or such.

Tough question to answer...need more information...
Budget?
On the AR do you value weight/length, quiet at the muzzle, quiet at the ear, do you want to tune the gun or keep it stock, do you need mag dump durability?
On the hunting rifle do you want it short and light for hiking or big and quiet for blinds and bench shooting?
The gun shop I went to set up the trust for free using the ss kiosk for everything else, super easy and painless...Payne brothers in Katy...they will hook you up, good dudes
First guess I would say... AR- OSS/HuxWrx hx-qd 556 ti, Hunting rifle- CGS HyperionLast edited by Anon; 05-03-2022, 11:06 PM.

I did the texas-gun-trust $79 gun trust. I think this is part of Jim Will's enterprises. Easy to set up. All done online. Very responsive to questions. Easy to add/delete trustees. Keep in mind the more people you put on your trust the more people you have to track down for finger print cards, etc. every time you file for a new device and you will want more than one. I have used mine for two Form 1 suppressors so far and no issues getting approved.
A 30 cal suppressor will work on both you 223 and 30 cal stuff.

Thunderbeast and KGM are both great
That’s what I’ve done. Micro30 on 556 and now getting the new razor556 and moving the micro to another rifle

Thanks guys for all the help. I’ve got another question that is kind of confusing me. If I use the ss kiosk or whoever, can I setup the trust first and then purchase the suppressor whenever my form gets approved? Or do I have to purchase the suppressor when I send in my form? Sorry for all the questions it just seems kind of daunting to start out.

I went to my gun shop which had a kiosk, set up my account, submitted my fingerprints, and paid for the suppressor. Then from home, I logged into my Silencer Shop account and bought the trust. You'll need a notary to finish up the trust. Then I bought the tax stamp thru Silencer Shop and they sent me a docu-sign to submit to the ATF. It looks like Silencer Shop now does the e-form, but I'm not familiar with that.
As far as a dedicated 223 can, I bought a Rex Silentium MG7 K in 224 and it's great. Hope that helps.

I have the omega 300. Love it. Works great. But I would also look at the Hybrid 36M. Should be about the same performance but also allows you to shoot some larger calibers.

Meh!
I think Suppressors are overrated. You want one that turns the "Boom" into "Plink" and they simply don't do that. When you shoot your gun, people within a mile or more radius will still hear you (depending on your location), so.... On top of that they mess with your gun's cycling and throw extra gas into your face.
They look cool though! you can save some money and the trouble and buy a fake one.Last edited by ATI; 05-04-2022, 09:19 AM.
