Adding weight to stock

20+ yrs ago, the mercury recoil suppressor (C&H Research) was one of the only options available and used by trap shooters. The Dead Mule is a more recent product and does the exact same thing. I only have personal experience with the C&H version. Maybe do some google research where people post their real world shooting experiences comparing the numerous options available.

Is the barrel threaded ... any possibility adding a muzzle brake in conjuction with the MRS ?

It is not threaded and I don't think at this point I want to put the money into it to add a MB (maybe later). Its 6.5CM which I believe is a pretty good round for a young lady (she's 13), especially from a recoil standpoint. The recoil is not that bad now, but I thought if I could do something cheap and easy, why not. The recoil reducer ($60) is probably the way I am going. If I can knock 20% off, I think that would accomplish what I am after.

I used Rockite in my Ruger American. I went way overboard and filled the butt stock and forearm with it. The plastic stock now weighs about 9 pounds......

That being said, used in moderation it will work great. Drill some holes through the web bracing up front. I would add to both the front and back to retain some semblance of balance.

Thank you! I have seen videos where they added epoxy (or something similar) to the front of the stock to add some stiffness and weight. I'll look into that further, after seeing this!

If it turns out to be a shooter, I might go ahead and thread it and put a suppressor on it.

I bought some large shot on sale, measured out a pound, put it in the synthetic stock and poured epoxy over it.

The difference with the mercury recoil reducer is that the 1/4lb mercury slug inside the tube slams forward during the shot and that is what reduces felt recoil. Similar to what a muzzlebrake does where the exploding gasses grab the brake louvers and jerk the barrel forward. Muzzlebrakes reducer felt recoil more than any other device. Mercury reducer is in second place.
