    .223 Barrel Length

I'm wanting to get a .223 upper for my SBR lower; can't decide on barrel length. This will be more of a fun gun, not specifically for hunting. 7.5"? 10.5"? Thoughts?

    I currently have a 8.5" 300BLK upper as well.

    Thanks.

    I have a 12.5" and a 10.5". Really like them both. The 12.5" is my favorite gun. I wouldn't go any shorter than 10.3" on a .223/5.56.

      I’d probably go 10.5

I'd do a 12" to 14" .223 Wylde with a 1:8 twist. Let us know what you decide.

          good luck.

10.5”. I’ve got 3 of em. Suppressed only. They get rowdy without a can lol. 11.5” is a touch easier to tune on the gas system. 10.5” and under get pretty violent on the gas if not set up right. Anything over 12” isn’t worth the stamp in my opinion. Never understood why people pay to save a few inches lol

12" gets you a lot better weight distribution than even a 14.5 with a can. 12.5 is still pretty dang short, and gets you a significant velocity increases over a 10.5.

Since it's just for fun, OP should go with the shorter 10.5

But when talking about guns, the real answer is get both (or all )

Ordered a 10.5" 1/8 twist and 10 more Pmags. Now I just need to pick up a bucket of ammo.

                Thanks guys.
